Hello gateway users.. I currently own the 7801u fx and I am wanting to upgrade my processor.. what are my choices of processors I can upgrade to?

and ps. I would love something that will make a definate noticeable difference in bootup timing and program/game performance.

You can upgrade to a p8600, p8700, p9500, p9600, x9100 and qx9300 in order of performance...so the p8600 is the slowest and the x9100 and qx9300 (quad core) is the fastest.

I am awaiting delivery of my new 7801 (ordered yesterday).
In the reading I've been doing, I have understood that the Quad-Core is not yet supported. Have I missed something? What do I need to support it ... BIOS update???

    Thx.

the quad core processors might be the fastest, but the heat sink is not large enough to cover the processor completely so it would be completely pointless to upgrade to one of them.
