If my 7805 is defective and on the off chance they actually just decide to give me a new one, whats the chances they would offer a 7801? My laptop now is the 1900x1200 resolution version of the 7805, which is the only reason I bought it (they let me open it before i bought it). If im not mistaken the 1900x1200 7805's are identical to the 7801's right?

The HDD is a bit smaller on the 7801's (200GB I think). Other than that, they are identical. I'd say that your chances are good that they offer you a 7801, if they have one, at least.

hmmm everything i see on google states a 320 (though they vary, some say 54000 others say 72000 rpm).

pmassey31545 Whats the mission sir?
GPU is different. 7801 has 512Mb and 7805 has 1GB
 -

no, both has 1gb of vram.
Only the 7811 has 512mb. -
Chances are not good since the 7805 is a BestBuy exclusive and the 7801's are sold by other outlets.
On the other hand, you might get lucky again and get another 7805 with 1920x1200 screen. -

Here is a quick spread sheet I made showing the differences between the P-78xx line up:

Man... I really like my 1900x1200 screen though...
 -
The ones I've seen on eBay have 200BG HDD. Must be the very early models. I must be mistaken, my bad.

I stand corrected, ktr. And nice work on the spreadsheet. That's cool -

Isn't the 7801u "sold out" everywhere? Tehkun, you could replace your 7805u with a new one and buy a 1920x1200 lcd screen for around $150. Overall, the overall cost should be $1300 (which is $150 more than the discount you could have received from TigerDirect if you order two weeks earlier).

7805 for 7801?
