I have all the other drivers(that I know of) up and running, but the sound isn't going so well. I can't find any drivers that are kosher at Gateway's site, since they seem to only have Vista ones. Barring that, I didn't even know where to begin to find the audio driver I need. I tried searching the forum, but if there is an advanced search function that lets me hunt through the gateway forum specifically, I couldn't find it, so I'm sorry if this is a repeat question!

Actually, by laboriously going through page after page of the forums hunting for info, I found this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=3871519&postcount=178
Just putting this up in case anyone has the same problem and needs help. -
Go to http://www.realtek.com/ and download the sound driver, always works for me.

You should never download and install drivers for a device without knowing the device model and manufacturer. -
I've found this thread which may help. Someone has had luck with downloading the conexant audio driver for the IBM Lenovo lappys and using it with the 78xx series. I'll try it out later and if they work, I'll update my WinXP install guide for the Gateway P7811fx...
