i have a problem. after 1 month, buying the laptop from BB(returns/exchanges expired), the right side of the laptop seems to make weird hissing noises. it goes on and off when on idle mode but when its in use (playing wow) there's no noise. i know its not the fan. can someone help me ? i do have 1 yr warranty for gateway but i dont want to send it in.

wirling and beeping sounds to me to be a bad cd/dvd. But ours is on the left side.

Are you certain that it isnt coming from your power brick? This happens alot to the power brick
-
i'm very certain it's not from the power brick even though it does make hissing noise after playing wow. it's from the laptop right side.
-
look for the HDD.
and up right or bottom right. -
the HDD is at the center bottom so it can't be that. whats on the right side of the laptop ? i noticed its the wireless adapter. i turned it off and the noise was still active.

I can suppose that some of the cables or component inside the laptop inst connected well so it can make noise even thought the voltage is to low to hear the hissing noise.
And at the right side its nothing. card reader and express54 port.
open the laptop and see what going on inside. -
The back right side is the CPU cooler. It's the only moving part on that side.

My right speaker buzzes and hisses if its not on High Performance... Could be something similar?
7805-u makes weird noises.
