with the HDMI output, how is the video quality on these laptops when using them on 50"+ 1080P Plasma TV's?
for HD Video(movies and other HD content)?
and for Games?
-
I have hooked up all my FX's to my 50" Plasma, it looks great, you can see very clearly in Windows, and games look great also. Movies look just as good.
-
While I'm using a 52" LCD rather than a plasma, the screen looks absolutely brilliant when connected to my FX!
I download lots of movies/TV shows/anime from usenet and it enhances the viewing experience to see the shows on the "big screen" without burning a DVD. BBC HD shows especially (no need for a blu-ray burner).
The Dr. Who 2008 Christmas special (downloaded) looked great on the TV! -
Just perfect for games and movies here in my 42" plasma
-
Same here, it looks nice on the 40' Samsung.
-
Looks great on my 52 sharp LCD, I love the fact the gateways fx come with hdmi.
-
fantastic on both our 55 LCD and our 73 DLP. Needed to screen resize though through the nvidia control to get it to fit.

Hi,
I have a problem with the HDMI video output. I have my laptop (runing on Vista Ultimate 64) connected to a projector and when I play movies on it I see some lines appearing when there's too much movement on the screen, kinda like the codec is wrong. But it's not the codec, the lines do not apear on the laptops display, only on the projector which is conected through the HDMI port, I even tried downloading a new codec pack. It is not the projector either, it is ok on Win XP 32bit, I tried it, no lines.
I downloaded all the latest drivers directly from the manufacturer.
I contacted the manufacturers technical support with this problem and they say that it can be the operating system.
What do you guys think?
Any suggestions of the top of your heads?
Thx outfront,
alijans -
Does the HDMI also have audio with it?
-
Yes, HDMI carries video and audio signals.
-
Yup, hdmi to my sony bravia 40in 1080p tv look great and very sharp.
Sound works well too, you may have to tinker with the sound settings and make your OS use hdmi audio as default. -
By the way, guys, how do you make sound louder? I've got 40-inch Samsung and I had to turn volume up to 60 (normally I use smth abouth 15-18) to hear everything.
The movie was 2001 - Space Odyssey 720p and it played perfectly fine with my X-fi+Z-5500 on the laptop. -
Hdmi to Onkyo 805 Great sound and picture
-
-
The funniest thing here is that the volume level is maxed! Have no idea why I have this low-level prob. Maybe, some changes in AC3Filter would do?
-
Azamatka,
Just checking -
You do know that there is a separate volume control for the NVidia HDMI Output in Control Panel, right?
It also lets you change the HDMI output for DTS Audio, Dolby digital (the default on mine), and Microsoft WMA Pro audio and lets you change the digital sample rates. -
You just made my back sweat. I ran to Control Panel - checked, that I didn't have the separate nvidia hdmi output icon there and only afterwards understood, that you meant nvidia hdmi output in playback audio devices. Phew. Then, I'm not missing any specific drivers and control buttons in control panel.
But still, the problem persists. The volume in the playback audio devices for nvidia hdmi is 100 percent and all boxes are unchecked (don't have the receiver - maybe, that's the main problem here???), except for 32khz and 48khz...
P.S. Oh! Just noticed - you're from Tampa Bay areaFun
I've got a friend living there. Ya know Justin Hofford?
-
Guess I haven't met Justin yet.
-
Did you try the DTS Audio mode?
Does changing that volume do anything?
Does changing any volume levels on the PC make any difference through HDMI?
As you can tell, I haven't tested this on mine yet. Don't have an extra HDMI cable and don't want to move the one I'm currently using. I know, I'm a bit lazy, on this. -
Guys, I have a question.
I recently bought a 32" 1080p Vizio VOJ32 LCD. I love the TV, over-the-air HD TV looks FANTASTIC and my PS3 looks awesome. I love the built in upscaling in the TV, it works way better than the ones on PS3 or my Hannspree HF289H.
Anyway, I tried pluging the 7805 to the TV through HDMI and... Except for a slight input lag while plugged in all was detected great. The sound worked great right away and the screen looked OK (not great). The problem is that on regular "wide" scaling setting in the TV the standard 1080p resolution does not fill the screen as it should ! When I choose "zoom" setting it does, but the quality of the picture is ever so slightly worse.
I tried forcing the nvidia scaling in the panel but with the TV selected as the monitor all the options are greyed out ! I am completely baffled by this. Standard 1080p should have filled the screen right away ! Not sure if this is my TV or the laptop. Like I said, my PS3 worked straight out of the box with no scaling issues at all !
Any ideas ? I would like to get it to work properly !
Thanks

Do you have the nVidia control panel set to "clone" your screen or have you enabled "dual view"? If clone, does the 7805 have the 1920x1200 or the 1440x900 screen? What is the native resolution of your TV? Is it the same as the resolution of your 7805 (if using clone mode)?
Ideally, you would have nVidia set to dual-view and have the second screen set to the native resolution of your TV. The TV would not be scaling as you want a pixel to pixel match for best image. -
I have a 1920x1200 LG screen in my 7805. When I change the output to my 1080p LCD, in any of the modes (clone, dual, main) it looks exactly the same and the resolution switches to 1920x1080 in nvidia panel automatically. Even though this IS the native resolution of my TV the HDMI feed does not fill the screen as it should.
I am using THIS cable.

I have a Samsung 1080p 32" and get the same results 1920x1080, and it fills the screen
-
is the NVIDIA® PureVideo® HD already included in the latest drivers? Or do I need to install it?
-
I think I answered my own question, from what I read in Nvidia's web site, all new Gforce card drivers have it built in.
-
I checked the Vizio website for a manual to your TV, but the model isn't listed. The 32" model they do list indicated that TV (not yours but the one listed) supports 1366x768 resolution for PC's. Can you check your manual for the recommended setting for PC input? As an experiment, you might try changing the resolution in the nVidia control panel to 1366x768 when connected to the TV and see what happens...
Otherwise, please check the suggested resolution in your manual for PC use and verify that is what is manually configured in nVidia control panel. I wouldn't rely on automatic adjustments at this point. Later (when you verify everything is working the way you expect) you can try automatic settings... -
I actually own THIS TV, which as you can see supports full HD in 1080p.
I have actually used it some more today and the quality is not at all bad. It is just that I have to change the TV scaling to "zoom" as opposed to "wide". I am still baffled why the original signal does not fill the screen, when even the TV recognizes the signal as 1080p and everything in nvidia panel is set to 1080p settings.
Anyway, I will not waste any more time on this, since I don't use the laptop at home that much and for the times I do I can switch the setting no prob. Also, Vizio is coming out with a 120Hz line of TVs and I might exchange the one I have for the new one when they come out. I bought it at Walmart and have 90 days for return/exchange. But, I AM happy with the TV, just in case anybody is considering purchasing it !
Thanks,
DK -
No prob.
One thing I noticed in the instruction manual for your TV, they keep indicating connecting the PC via the VGA analog connection (not the HDMI). Have you tried that? I ask because, as you have noticed, the PC's native resolution is 1920x1200 where the TV is 1920x1080. Perhaps the TV is factory optimized for the VGA port and works best that way. I mention this because my TV specifically indicates I have to use HDMI port #3 for PC connection if using an HDMI output. When I try other ports I don't get as good a result.
If you check the VGA port and get a better picture, then at least you know your TV can work without "zoom" (which adds distortion to the image). You may have to play with custom settings in the nVidia control panel to "trick" the TV into displaying as you wish (using HDMI).
This all assumes you wish to spend more time on this project.... -
On my Samsang, I need to connect to HDMI#1 when using a pc connection.
