So Im wondering if there is anyone out their who is like me and still ignores the Automatic Update to SP2? I still run SP1 up to date but just ignore installing the SP2. I guess I am scared and have read that SP2 had some compatability issues with our laptops as well as is not a real benefit from SP1. Id like to hear peoples feedback. Did you have any issues after installing/ notice and performance benefits or ANY benefits for that matter. I have also been canceling IE8 for about 3 months now ; ) Im sticking with IE7.

Another thing that I have not done due to not having any gaming/graphic issues, is update my Nvidia drivers. The version I have is whatever Gateway/Best buy installed! GPU drivers always freak me out and my theory is dont change them if they are not giving you issues. Well, more than anything, Im leaning against this theory and may want to update. What drivers are the best and more importantly, the most STABLE! Heard the DOX are a better bet than Nvidia's. Any latest versions that people can swear by? Thanks!

No ones going to convince me to install SP2 and update my GPU drivers eh....?
(I read that SP2 will ONLY show up as an AU when YOUR system is ready i.e has all prior updates already installed..as you would have big problems if installing prior to all those other crucial AU's) and also, if there are incompatability issues during the install of the Service Pack, that it prompts you of it. You can then check your device manager and check for any yellow exclamation points!

i have sp2 and not one issue (knock on wood*)... sp2 is really up to you, i didnt notice anything different after the update.
as for the drivers, i say "UPDATE" youll get better performance, i have been using XFastes 185.20 and luv it, if your a bit iffy on 3rd party drivers then just try the newest on the nvidia site.

nope i'd rather convince you to experience the wonders that is Win7 :p

But as to drivers... yeah you should update them. You would be surprised how much better your rig will run with some of the new drivers. Its a bit old, but DOX 182.63 was one of my favorites, it actually dropped my temps and ran insanely stable (not a hugely powerful driver, but very stable and gave better than stock performance)

The new 186 and 190 drivers are good. I benchmark with 186.03 currently (though i'm sure there are better out there... need to find them too) and i'm running 190 (cant remember the .xx part) on my 6860 and its giving me good performance and seems more stable than 186.03

I basically recommend looking over iaTa's driver guide and testing out a few drivers. you would be surprised how great it feels to find the driver that works best with your individual machine and you crush all of your previous performance bests

I recommend using Windoiws 7 as it's speed is almost as fast, if not as fast as XP.

On a side note, anyplace I can buy this laptop? I am trying to find it.
