I've been looking for the last 20 hours or so for an audio driver that will work for this version of xp for my laptop. I have tried so many different ways that all failed that I'm going to start breaking down. I want it so bad and my days are starting to suck because I'm stuck in this rut and cant get it to work.

I've tried computermanager-device manager and choosing to install the driver myself but it tells me "The specified location does not contain a compatible software driver for your device" and that's after doing the --> Have disk option.

I've downloaded like 20 different drivers, driver finder programs, contacted each companies' support lines, browsed a billion FaQ, browsed proposed solutions on various forums. I want relief.

A guy SemiGamer on this forum, in his sig says he has the same version of windows I have, same computer exactly, so I'm assuming he has freakin sound. I cant send a privatemessage to him, none the less expect a response. Please, anyone who knows, please for the love of god help me with this. 20 hours is too many hours.
