If you search ebay for the seller hellowifi they have a 7811fx compatible bluetooth module that works, I'd imagine they'll be updating the listing since I just gave them feedback about it working on the 7805u after they gave me a couple cables to try. They didn't have a 7805 listing when I bought mine and I got an HP that was supposed to be the same but turned out not to be. I got the 7811FX cable and it works great. They're selling for 26 bucks shipped, takes a week or two from China but if you want internal bluetooth I haven't seen a better price and they were great to work with sending me a new cable to make it work.

I found them on ebay. They give a shout out and link to Big Mike for installation help! Cool.

    A few questions:
Does this module work with the Fn + F6 keys to turn on/off? What have you used it for and to what degree of success? Does opening my laptop to install this void my warranty? Did you use the drivers they posted on their ebay listing?

    Thanks in advance!

Hucker, I purchased the same bluetooth module for the 7811FX and installed a week and a half ago. Yes, it works with the Fn + F6 keys to turn on/off. As a matter of fact you have to hit Fn + F6 to turn it on after booting into Windows the first time. I didn't use the driver they had in the auction listing, I used the driver from gateway's website instead and it works great. So far I've only used it to connect my Blackberry, but I do plan on replacing my USB wireless mouse with a bluetooth mouse soon.

    Hope this helps.

Hey Mike, what kind of tool do you recommend for removing the media panel? On the side, the orange and black part have a small separation, did you use that?

The red lines showed the F1, F4 and home and PgDn keys under the panel. Should I use a small flat head scewdriver to prop up the panel.

I don't want to break the panel.

    ;)

Flat head screw driver. Don't use a really small one (like those one that come in a small case) or it will muck up the plastic. A medium sized flat head should do the job.

Yep, as was stated FN-F6 has to be pushed to turn it on when you boot into windows. I used the XP driver they have posted (which kinda sucks, but most people aren't using XP on this laptop anyways), Vista SP1 seems to have native support and set up by itself and worked great with my MS Bluetooth 5000 mouse. Technically this will void your waranty, but if you're careful and don't lose screws etc there isn't any way for them to know you did it if you remove it before getting waranty service. There aren't any void stickers or anything like that keeping you from getting to the module area (at least there weren't on my laptop)

I actually used a screwdriver as was mentioned, but the "safest" option would be a plastic or wood tool as it'd be less likely to mar the plastic. I carefully pryed up on the "rear" part of the hinge (with the screen in the normal open position) and then flipped it down to "all the way open" and pryed where the red lines are gently, just stick a tool into the space between the hinge and lcd gently on either side of the hinges and pry upwards gently and it should pop the whole rear section loose, then you can just pull up and towards the rear of the unit on the media bar gently and it should all pop out, just don't pull too hard because there's a ribbon cable attached to it.

I finally got mine! I bought it on the 19th and it got here the 27th. Not too bad considering it came from China. Anyway, I was able to install it with no problems. It should be mentioned that there is a foam block with two sided tape where the bluetooth module will go. Hellowifi sent two screws which were way too small so I just adhered it to the foam block. Thanks again Big Mike, I couldn't have done the installation without your post!

The only non-ebay supplier I've seen was
    http://laptopparts.vivotechnology.net/Items/!MSC-HP-513?gclid=CMb0sPqTj5gCFRFWagodTxPT8w

but they sold out a while ago, you could contact them and see if they'll be getting more of that particular unit? Otherwise Hellowifi on ebay is the only supplier I know of that has them for a reasonable price.

And yeah hucker, I put a very small dab of superglue on mine and stuck it to the foam pad as well.

I put it in so that the tabs lined up with the standoffs that look like it would have screwed into if it had the right screws or if the standoffs had had threaded inserts of some sort. I believe that would make the antenna portion face downward. I haven't checked the range but I wasn't real concerned about that as I got it mainly for my MS BT 5000 mouse.

I installed mine like Big Mike's. The silver "chip" on mine was face up. The solder points were on the bottom side if that is a better description. I only use mine for my MS 5000 mouse also so I'm not too sure about range. I have an mp3 player that has BT cabability but I haven't tried to connect it yet because the speakers aren't that great as you know.
