Would changing the CPU void the gateway warranty?
If I sold the CPU and something internal within the laptop broke, would it be okay to take the (the one I bought) CPU out and ship it back to them without the CPU?

I think its kinda touchy, chances are they aren't gonna touch it with a different cpu or no cpu in it. They wouldn't be able to prove anything if you put the original back in though (or just any P8400, so you could always sell the one in it and just buy another one if you ever have an issue and need the waranty)

So if there is No CPU inside they could still do the repair?

If there isn't a CPU in it they will void your warranty if you don't have documentation showing a CPU removal by a certified technician.
