So I upgraded to Windows 7.. So far it has been effortless.. but now, its become a huge pain. My HDMI Audio shows up fine in Playback Devices. I set it as default.. doesn't work. I tried testing it, no sound. I've Updated all nVidia drivers and what not. I have One HDMI Cable going to my TV. I'm lost here. I've tried everything.

    Any ideas?

I just installed DOX's newest drivers for win7 and now it says that the Nvidia HD Audio is unplugged... even though its plugged in..

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm at a complete loss right now.. I use the computer every single solitary day at work (projector + audio) and home (TV + Audio).. I can do w/ out it at home, but not at work.. I'm in a bind right now..

    Thanks everyone.

Try rebooting your laptop with HDMI plugged in.

Ya doesn't work.. I've tried manually installing old Vista 64 bit Nvidia HD Audio drivers, didn't work.. now it says unplugged. Video shows up fine, just no audio..

Has anyone successfully used Windows 7 and HDMI w/ audio working?

HDMI audio works fine for me.

After a fresh install on Win7 I just let Windows Update do its work. Maybe you should try wiping the DOX driver and installing the Nvidia ones. Also Windows has a Nvidia HDMI Audio update after a fresh install, have you installed that?

    Try this link:

    http://go.notebookreview.com/?id=52...wse&platform=10022&model=12253&os=12390&type=

There should be drivers there for everything that you need. I installed Win 7 on my P-7805u FX this past Friday and I downloaded and installed all the drivers there (except for the Synaptics driver for the trackpad - go to www.synaptics.com for a Windows 7 driver for that) and EVERYTHING seems to work just fine!

Please send $1,000.00 US to my PayPal ID (PM me and I'll give it to you)!!

    Just kidding!!

    Good luck!

    Hey Dennis,

Thanks for the reply, honestly I've tried that site from a previous post (by searching) and nothing worked. Should I install both audio drivers?

I would install ALL the drivers there EXCEPT for the Synaptics driver because that driver causes, for some strange reason, a window to open every time Windows started up asking if you want to install it. I uninstalled it then went to Synaptics.com and installed a driver for Windows 7 64-bit and I've had no problems since.

So, yes - install BOTH audio drivers. That's what I did and everything seems fine. As I've said, though, haven't tried using my HDMI cable yet, though.

I think thats for Vaio Z's only.. its a hybrid graphics card driver.. If not, I can't even find a download link.. I hope its something simple like down grading drivers.. but I tried to use the same ones I used on Vista and it still didn't work.

You can probably stop that with msconfig

The driver isn't really necessary though unless you need the option to disable the "tap to click" or you're using the dell driver to disable the touchpad when a usb mouse is plugged in.

I tried "msconfig" - I couldn't find anything that seemed even remotely related to that except Synaptic Touchpad drivers. I worried if I kept that from loading, my touchpad wouldn't work. I ended-up uninstalling the Gateway provided driver that caused that problem and then re-installing drivers for the touchpad for Windows 7 64-bit directly from Synaptic's website. Works fine now.

The default microsoft driver will work just fine, the touchpad will still work. You need the non-microsoft driver if you want to use the scroll bar on the touchpad, or disable the tap-to-click, or disable the touchpad when a usb mouse is plugged in (Dell driver).

Assuming you have all of the drivers installed correctly, you may have to right click on the speaker in the bottom right on the task bar and click on Playback Devices. Then look for HDMI audio and highlight it. Set it as the default playback device and you should start having audio output through the HDMI cable.

I have to do this every time I hook up to a TV. I am running Windows 7 release, 64 bit.

Ya I did that :(... Unfortunately that didn't work..

I did another clean install and viola, it works now. I have NO idea why it wasn't working before. I installed the same stuff, checking the HDMI after each install. God only knows..
