So I'm having trouble with my 7805u. It has a small keyboard lag... not very noticable, and only in windows. It doesn't happen in L4d... but it happens in WoW. I don't understand it. I just tried dual booting Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty, and there's only a small lag, sometimes, in that. I've also tried XP, Vista 32 and Vista Black. I'm thinking it might be the bios, or something? I want to update it, but the link in the bios update sticky is broken.
Willing to install anything, try anything at all. Let me know what I need to do.
In addition, probably related, there is also a small scroll lag. I've tried it with and without my usb mouse.
Overall, it's pissing me off that this system is 15x better than the ty single core dells at my school, and yet they run better.
Please help!
P.S, I have the 1900x1200 version of the laptop. (I think.. my rez goes that high in windows+games...)

My P8705-u has no noticable lag at all. Are you sure there is no keyboard (keystroke) capturing software (Trojan/virus/etc) just waiting for your card info etc?
-
Sorry, forgot to add, I recently had it replaced, as a key popped off, and they said the motherboard was faulty.
So it's a brand new vista SP1 64 bit. First thing I did as soon as I plugged the ethernet is was installed McAfee. It was doing it even as I typed comcast.net into the address bar when I booted it up.
Since then, I've tried updating my graphics driver to the newest Nvidia WHQL's, as well as uninstalled the Synaptics driver, as I understand that's a problem sometimes.
Is yours a 1920 x 1200 or a 1440x900? -
Mine is an early version at 1440x900. My Bios was 9c.11.00 stock but I almost imediately went to 9c.12.00. In devices mamager my keyboards lists as below;
1.) HID Keyboard Device
2.) Standard PS/2 Keyboard -
Perhaps therin lies the problem. They started out with a 1900x1200 version and within 2 weeks switched to 1440x900. Perhaps people were complaining about it? Does anybody else have a 1900x1200 version here?
My Device Manager just has Standard PS/2 Keyboard on it. -

Hmm... but you do not notice any very small keyboard lag? Damn...
I don't think it's me, because I can hop onto another computer and type normally, and it works fine. -
I've noticed no decernable lag. The question is; was there a lag before the keyboard replacement? try deleting the keyboard items from the device manager and restart the system. Also go to bios and see if there is a lag there as you use the keys..............

I tried going to device manager and removing the keyboard driver. It seems to have fixed a lot of it, but not all of it.
I guess I'll just deal with it. Thanks for trying to help though, man. BIOS and even the windows login screen are normal. -
Hello Zonoko,
Try to solve the problem with the new keyboard uninstalling the old driver. It should help.
Type cmd into start menu search box, then right click on the command prompt and run it as administrator.
In the command prompt type SET DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1, next type devmgmt.msc to open the Device Manager.
In the manager, click View and select Show Hidden Devices. Under the keyboard you would see two drivers on the list, to remove the old driver just right click the misty one (the second one is your new driver) and choose Uninstall. You might uninstall your present driver, too. After rebooting Windows will find and install it again.
Hope it will work in your case. -
Thanks martee, but it only shows one keyboard even after using the commands shown. View hidden devices is also on.
