    Hello,

I bought the 7805u computer from bestbuy under 30 days ago, I tried to take it back but there strict policies are not allowing me because of the 14 day laptop return time is up.

So I updated all my drivers as soon as I bought it, everything was fine until about 3 days ago when I downloaded a program called Powermizer Switch 1.2 to change the constant downclocking due to the lag I get from youtube.

Since then my Razer Copperhead mouse (which works on my other computers fine) is bugging out were it actually stops in the middle of usage and freezes, sometimes it will actually unplug and plug back in (i hear the vista sounds).

Now that I have turned the powermizer back on things seem ok, but I am still worried it will do it again. (I reformatted after I took it back and things still were problematic with the powermizer switch)

Please send info about your ideas.
-PS I have .17 bios but i installed .12 because I thought there was a problem with IRQ counts. I am upset because I cannot get .17 back.

I would give gateway a ring. Your system still has a 1 year warranty with gateway. I know they will honor it because I spoke to them in order to get a replacement hard drive bay cover. Anyways it looks like either improper cooling or a power issue somewhere. There is no reason why the card should be downclocking except when heat is an issue. You really risk damaging the rest of the system by disabling powermizer (there is a reason for it).

I suggest calling Gateway today! Escalate the issue and ask to speak to a manager! This speeds things up dramatically. Good luck!

That's normal. It increases the clockspeed when it is actually needed. Otherwise it would be producing extra heat and wasting power when it doesn't have to.

Have you tried a different mouse or tried the mouse you are experiencing problems with in a different computer?

Check your mouses properties under device manager and make sure it isn't checked to allow windows to turn it off to conserve power. I used to have that problem with my wireless cards.

Yes I have tried the mouse on other computers and they all seem to work fine and no its all proper in the device manager. I have a feeling it has something to do with irq's and my graphics card. It only started to mess up when I overclocked my computer to the recommended specs on notebookreview. 910 core clock, 1750 memory.

You know I thought everything was fixed for a while then when my computer is on for a while it starts to do it again.

Out of curiosity which USB port are you using for the mouse?

The single one on the Right tends to be the only one some people can use to power a mouse.

I have used all of them, they all do the same thing its mind boggling and it only just started to happen after I was messing with nvidia settings.

hrm... I'm not sure. The nVidia drivers shouldnt have any effect on the USB ports or the mouse itself.

Have you tried any other GPU drivers?
