Does anyone notice some distortion from the speakers? Usually it happens when playing movies so I'm wondering it it's the files or is something wrong with one of my speakers? I'm very anal when it comes to speakers distorting (this is my 1st laptop) so i'm not sure what to expect from these speakers...

Sad but true, 7805uFX is not an entertainment laptop, it's gaming laptop, you should use a headset or plug in a set of speaker for music^^.

I'm not sure about other 78xx, but for 7805uFX, its speakers are decoration ^^

Actually they are quite decent for most occasions but I think I know what distortion you are talking about. The only workaround I know is to lower the volume.
Basically if you want better sounds quality you will have to use external speakers or headphones.

i know this is off subject, but it's still another quirky issue i've noticed with the 7805u. When I'm copying movies from my laptop to my thumbdrive it usually transfers at 6-7 rarely 9 MBps. My pc at work which has less impressive specs transfers data at about 19 MBps.

I think the Front side bus on my work pc is like 800mhz? this laptop has a 1600 mhz FSB. So what is the issue?

so is it like this on all 7805u's? that's basically what I'm wanting to know. And is there no way to make it transfer faster?

Do you just transfer your movies to your PC only, or do you transfer movies from the PC to the USB drive too?

I ask you this because you know that reading from a USB flash drive is faster then writing to it?
