When I create a shortcut on my desktop from the control panel there is delay up to 10 seconds. I have a 7805u and the same thing happened when I owned a 7811. I do not get this delay with Windows Vista.

to do this test simply open the control panel and drag a icon like "Action Center" or "Display" etc.... to your desktop and choice to "create shortcuts here" on you desktop and you will see the delay I am talking about. a huge delay most of the time!

seems like a Windows 7 Glitch because it has happened on two computers of mine.

when I create a shortcut from "computer".... there is no delay.

I am runing Windows 7 Enterprise(same as Ultimate).

you are right... move the mouse around then it will appear faster. It's funny that I am the only person to find this Glitch... or maybe most people don't care?

I bet EVERYBODY has this glitch and does not realize it.

yes it bugged me so much I tought it was a bad copy of Windows 7 or maybe a problem with my hardware.

maybe it is a Control Panel security feature glitch that will NEVER be fixed.

I just hope this glitch is only specific to making shortcuts from the Control Panel.

anybody else have this GLITCH with windows 7?

i guess it is not significant.

but it sure bugs me wandering why there is a huge delay for the shorcut icon to appear.

I do not have this problem with Win 7 Ultimate RTM and 7811
The shortcut from the Control Panel appears immediately on the desktop

yep i can replicate the "bug" as well. Its when you place a 'super category' from the normal view of the control panel correct (not individual links from the classic view)

So its definitely a bug in the RC version as well. Once i get my Signature Edition Ultimate package for the launch party, i'll try it again. Maybe they know about it and correct it.

(replicated on a 6860 with SSD)

I tried this in 'Category', Large Icons', 'Small Icons', using Drag and Drop to the Desktop and Right Click to create Shortcut.

    All shortcuts were created immediately.

7811 with Win 7 Ultimate RTM

Right Click "Create Short Cut" gives me an icon instantly, but even under small icon and large icon views i still get the lag if i drag and drop.

Oddly enough that once i created an icon once, after that i get them instantly if i delete and make new ones (so i've had to select different choices every time i wanted to preform this test)
