Just got my 7805u last week, and cannot get the num lock to come on before the logon. I use numbers in my logon, so I would like this to be active when the computer is booting. No major deal, just a little annoyance. I have checked in the BIOS, no option there. I have done a google search, as well as the forums here, and all I could find was a registry hack, which I tried, and which didn't help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Philip

Open up the Registry Editor (type in 'regedit' into the search), then double click on 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER' on the left side. Open up 'Control Panel', then select 'Keyboard'.

On the right side double click the entry for 'InitialKeyboardIndicators' and change the value of it to '2'. That will make the number lock come on everytime you get into windows.

Thanks newdeepdan, already tried the registry change, no luck. Should the registry change turn the numlock on at the login screen, or when it boots to the desktop? I use numbers in my logon password, so it would be handy if this came on by that time, but if it won't it's not a BIG deal....just a little inconvenient. Thanks again.

It should turn on when it boots into the desktop.

The numlock key lights up as Windows is booting, but goes off just before the logon screen. I have to hit numlock for my password, then it stays on. Thanks for your help, like I said, not a big deal, just a little annoying.

Thanks for the help newdeepdan. I decided to bypass the logon screen, and it stays locked now. For some reason, when I got to the logon screen, the numlock would turn off. Just bypassed logon and everything is good. Thanks again.
