    Hi all,

The hard drive is INCREDIBLY warm under my right hand :[

HWmonitor shows it as around 53 degrees celsius / 127 farenheit, which is hotter than my GPU and CPU when gaming :[

Is there anything wrong, or does anyone have any suggestions? Is this even normal??.. ? I've been blowing a desk fan on the keyboard/my hands to keep it cool.

Yes, I do use an antec laptop cooler :[

My 7811 hard drives are 32 degrees and I don't think the 7805 hard drive should be much different. I never notice uncomfortable warmth under my right hand so your hard drives are probably running a little warm.

my HD's (yes both of them) are the hottest parts of this computer. always has been. always will be.. doesn't seem to cause any issues. just the way it goes really. Par for the course i figure.

Dang. That does make me feel a bit better in knowing that I didn't get a super messed up refurb :p

It's just that it's uncomfortably warm w/o a desk fan blowing on it :[

Mine p7805u is pretty much the same as far as HDD temps go (almost... and except for major gaming / processing, the HDD does normally have the highest temps.

If the other bay is free just try the other slot. Mine went from 60 to 45.

The ambient temperature in the room where your laptop is sitting is 80-90°F?

    ;)

Unless your desk is outside or something..

the hdd at gateway P series stayes a bit hot. everyone knows that but if you have a cooled under the laptop you can have up to 8-10C' cooler HDD. I can suppose it will stay always under 50. a friend of mine bought cooler master Infinity and his HDD stays abut 8C cooler now in summer, in winter up to 11C.

Did you need to change any bios settings to get it to recognize?

My HDD is also at 53C...it is one hot sucker. It burn the crotch :p

I guess that is why they call it a notebook instead of a laptop these days.

mine reached 63 while laying flat on the table. ambient temp is 34C. raised the back and it stayed at 59. gonna get my Zalman NC-2000 soon, hopefully itll help. the gpu and core temps don't worry me, it's the hdd that does. :(
