Does anyone know where I can get a new front lcd bezel? I got a refurb from tigerdirect like most here and the lcd bezel looks like they tried to polish it with sandpaper, also the keyboard seems to have a flaw where the gr crtl key and surrounding keys are sunk in compared to the rest of the keys (not sure if that is normal?)

Laptop functions perfect but cosmetically that type of stuff drives me nuts. I managed to get the laptop for 720$ usd using cashback live (now known as bing) so I can apply that to making it look new.

Actually I got the laptop completely free, expensed it since I have been using my personal laptop for work.

How hard would it be to change the processor and remove/replace that bezel. I seen the tear down in the sticky and that looks nerve racking. He did a complete tear down though so I am not sure exactly what I would need to remove in regards to my problems.

Anyhow, looking for that part in new condition, and maybe a keyboard.

    Thanks
    Mark

I'm afraid i cant help you with regard to locating replacement parts but i can say that changing the CPU is a piece of cake.

To be honest, i havent actually done a CPU upgrade myself as my p7805u already came with a X9100 but I did recently apply some ICD7 to it in an attempt to improve temps. The methodoly involved is exactly the same with the exception of 3 additional steps to release the current CPU via a locking screw (step 1) and swapping over CPUs (step 2) and finally, re-locking the CPU in place (step 3).

In fact, there's a couple of instructional vids from Capper5016 which helped me immensely:-

    Mark,

The parts you will find on Excelcomputronic. The LCD bezel for P78 series is on stock, however the keyboard is currently out of stock. Personally I wouldn't change the keyboard if it works. Few keyboard imperfection you can find on every 7805, I think. Hope it helps.

    Cheers...

Looking at the Main Boards, out of stock, the list only the P-7801 and
P-7805 and state "only selected models". This adds to the speculation that the quad core P-7808 uses a special board.............. :(

my keyboard has the same problem. Some parts seem dented down and others popped up, but it works fine for me and i don't really care about this as long as i save $150

Yeah the keyboard isn't such a big deal. The bezel looks horrible though, all the links provided are out of stock. I threw myself on the waiting list so will see how that goes. Might end up throwing in a t9900 and another hard drive. Not sure yet. Haven't had much time to actually play any games on it yet.

    Thanks for the replies.
