Is it CPU whine? If so you're just one of the unlucky few that can register the noise.

If its CPU whine then no not really.

If its not CPU whine then you're going to have to find out what componet is making the racket and go from there. It might be something as simple as the fan needs cleaning, or it might be something as bad as piezo vibrations coming from certain componets.

I really cant tell you for sure though not having the notebook infront of me

I also heard the noise on my 7811 when I flashed the .17 bios. It comes from the GPU fan at low RPMs. I went back to . 08 is it went away :/

Now the question is, do I want this high pitch noise, or a crazy GPU fan.

i'm a total noob at this so if you would kindly tell me how to flash the bios...i'd rather deal with a crazy gpu fan than an annoying high pitch squeal!

.08 seems to be good enough. The others are not well documented, and dont show and improvement.

Not to sure if the newer bios ever had and updated microcode for newer CPUs. But from the change log from .05 to .10, it did not. And IIRC, .12 was still a beta bios, so it's your choice to try it. Personally, I would stick with .08, but then again, I am not sure if it will have issues with the t9900 (which I doubt).

I am sure those FTP links are dead by now, you need to look at the other pages of that thread to see if some one has hosted the files some where else..

That's correct. Execute "IMV-026W.exe" in the 64 folder. It will start flashing the bios (CPU fan is going to go high speed during this processes). Once it is done, your laptop is going to automatically reboot. It might restart again on the bios screen...don't worry.

i once spilled soda on the table where my laptop was sitting. the soda crept up underneath the laptop and got to the cpu intake fan. it took about a month for the fan to completely stop working and made my computer slow down to a crawl when it was under a heavy load. i took my computer apart and did a thorough cleaning. the only 2 lubricants i had at the time was zippo lighter fluid and CLP (Cleaning, Lubricating, Protecting solvent used to clean weapons). i had to get underneath the fan to properly clean all the dried soda off and practically drenched the fan in lighter fluid and later CLP.

if the high pitch noise bothers you that much, i suggest you take your computer apart according to the sticky dis-assembly instructions and clean the gpu fan. i'd probably use rubbing alcohol to clean it and WD-40 to lubricate it.

i'll try to open it and clean the gpu fan and lubricating it and see if that works...its just that i read on other threads people having the same issue and some flashing it and the problem going away...like 2 people so far have flashed the .10 bios and said that the noise went away...this annoys me so much because i've had this laptop for 4 months now and take excellent care of it and i just dont know where this problem suddenly came from.

one thing that i noticed about this noise is that it doesn't occur when the fan is spinning...when the fan stops the noise starts...whenever i get outta playing a game and the fan stops the noise gets way louder
