I have a 7808u running Windows7 with the latest official video drivers. It games wonderfully, usually on high settings. I even use a Zalman cooling stand, which was necessary for my previous FX Laptop when playing Red Alert 3.
Without the stand, the laptop will shutdown during games. Company of Heroes, Alien Swarm, etc. With StarCraft 2, always with the stand, during play the laptop would shutdown. There was that fix Blizzard released which was a few lines of code that was supposed to help. It seemed to work, as my computer no longer shuts down playing SC2.
Now on to Arma2, my laptop continues to shutdown.
What are my options? Any tweaks for voltage settings? Additional cooling hardware? Replace the thermal paste?
I removed the battery to see if that would help with heating, but I'm unsure.
Thanks for any help.

I actually just played quite a bit with the battery out and lid open (should have added I'm hooked up to an external monitor through HDMI), and I had no problems.
I also have a ceiling fan right above on full power too... -

Ah lid open is the key. I've noticed after opening the lid when I haven't used the laptop in a while sometimes the display will be frozen for a couple seconds. My guess is that the graphics card goes into low power mode/turns off.
BTW I recommend HWMonitor to monitor temps. -
I actually have had it where certain drivers, even ones straight from Nvidia, would crash and the computer would reboot because of an unseeable blue screen. I've been using Dox's Drivers and I recommend you try those. Cleaning out the gpu heatsink of dust and helps and undervolting helps, I've undervolted to 0.81v from 1.12v and that dropped temps a bit.
