Ok... Simply my ac power adapter makes sizzling noise when its plugged to laptop... when I pull it out but still plugged in to the wall it makes static noises... is this bad? should I return it? would they just change the power brick or my whole laptop?

I have the same problem. Only for me, I get it when my 7811FX is fully charged and pulled in, when it's not plugged in the power brick stops making the noise.

You're talking about a hissing/whining/radio frequency interference sound?

What I do is, I drain my battery, then plug it in, when it's fully charged, I unplug it, thus keeping the sound away, and salvaging battery life.

SO... should I worry about my power brick exploding from under my desk and annhilating my legs?

Haha, I'd say no. Worst case scenario that can happen is your AC adapter sets on fire. This can be avoided if you check on your AC adapter every once in a while and make sure it isn't getting extremely hot. For the most part, mine doesn't get very hot when it makes those noises.

Ok thank you so much for replies... i have one more question though.
i have bought a targus powerbrick which is 180w and would it be ok to use it on this laptop? I believe the stock brick is 120w isnt it?
So what im asking is are higher wattage ok?

im using a 180w targus power brick too. you should be fine, as the laptop will only draw what it needs to from the power brick.

also, if you want to keep your 120w brick cooler, if you have any nearby AC vents, try putting it on top of that. it kept my 120w brick alive till i could buy the targus.

The other FX series laptops had this same problem, I know my 6831-FX did. If you oc'd the pc enough it would make it really sizzle and would shut the pc down. I think the power brick may be part of all the lockup issues people are having if it is overheating.

I am going to look into a 3rd party powersupply for the 7811.

I belive from what I have heard is that the brick is pushing the maximum output(120W) the solution was to buy a bigger one. I have heard alienware ones will work...but dont quote me on that
