Hi. I have a 7811 and it seems more and more frequently, i'll wake up in the morning to find my laptop non responsive, with the screen black. (Sometimes the backlight is on, sometimes it's not. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem, and how they fixed it. Thanks.

    This sounds familiar.
I use a 7811 to play halo 2 and crysis.
After about 1/2 hr or halo 2 it the screen will go black. All the LED's stay on but the screen goes off.
When I playing crysis it does not ever crash. Even if i have been playing for over 2 hrs it doesn't crash.
I think this is a heat issue because I put the laptop on a cooling pad and have been able to play halo 2 for over an hr per session.

I cleaned out the heatsink and re replaced the AS5 and I think that helped somewhat.

the description of your problem is sort of vague and would be hard to trouble shoot over the internet. Could be trouble going int a sleep mode/hibernate mode. could be an issue with the software you're using overnight could be a overheating issue. could be any of those things or a combo of more than 1 of them.

my 7811 screen is set to shut off after 45minutes but my computer doesn't go into sleep mode for 4-5 hours.

When left on overnight (every night) it shuts itself down after i've dozed off and i've never had a problem coming back from hibernate mode. Might want to adjust your power settings (advanced mode) and set it to a similar configuration so that it'll just go into hibernate overnight. that might fix some of your problems.

i have it set so the screen stays on and doesn't go into sleep. i usually close the lid and leave it sit on my desk, or a board on my bed (off blankets, etc).

Leave it on again tonight but turn it upside down and tell us what happens tomorrow.
