It won't let me update the drivers via nvidia's site. It says I have to use the ones offered by the distributor (Best Buy). They however haven't updated crap since last year and my drivers are old supposedly.
How do I update to the latest? Even the custom ones on this site at this point are somewhat old. I'm mainly concerned about drivers for my nvidia geforce 9800m gts.

I'm using 186.91

186.03 came out like 2 months ago, and others (like 190+) have come out in the last week... what are you considering new? They dont release drivers every day usually
-
Every time I go onto their website I see things from like last September only... weird.

Gateway. Nvidia drivers say they won't install and I must use Gateway. When I do (and I'm there right now) the LATEST drivers are from September 200 8.
I have a 7811 FX, Vista 64 bit with an nvidia geforce 9800m gts, 4 gigs of ram, blablabla...
I'm looking at the list for my Serial Number. It's a stupid old list. -

go here and get your driver
If you follow the instructions on iaTa's guide it will be pretty flawless for you -
Hey, does anyone have a suggestion for good drivers? I don't like DOX, and I don't really like Xfastest. Right now I'm running the stock drivers because they play nice with Far Cry 2, but in most other games, they weren't as good as custom ones. I'm pretty much done with Far Cry 2, so I think now is a good time to change.
Should I just get nVidia's from the site Kamin? They seem to be more general, so will they work better? They say they offer a 14% increase in Far Cry 2 performance (I bet). The Batman demo also tells me my drivers are outdated, so maybe I should. It runs well at high settings though, so I don't know why it's complaining. Makes my GPU hot though. 70C, which is a lot hotter than most games ever get it. It also spiked TZS0, but I don't care now that I'm undervolting -

nVidias drivers are really good in general because they are so widely usable. But sometimes that limits their capabilities. I enjoy 186.03 but right now i'm using 190.56 which works pretty well that i've seen so far (though it has limited my 3dmark06 score)

I uninstalled the OS that came with the system and have Windows 7 on mine, so I'm not held back by Gateway's drivers.
Interesting note: I updated the latest Nvidia drivers for Windows 7, and my Furmark benchmarks score in 1900 x 1200 mode went from 973 to 1684. My WEI (Windows Experience Index) score for Graphics went up from 5.9 to 6.7 just from that alone. No overclock. -
That doesn't even seem possible. I know the WEI is due to a changed scale.
I'll try them then. I can only see 186.81 there, so I'll just get that. I don't need extra power for Batman though. They recommend a 9800 GTX in the readme, but I don't see why. A 7900 would probably be enough to run it on high. Maybe the 9800 is for physx.
I installed 186.81. With Far Cry 2, there does actually seem to be an improvement. Quite a bit in DX9 mode in fact. I haven't tested DX10. I'm pretty impressed. I'll test DX10 tomorrow, as I've been up way to long and need some sleep.
7811 FX. Will they EVER update the drivers?
