Hey all, brand new here but I've been looking around a bit. So, as the thread title states I'm having an issue with the connection port that holds the ribbon in place (that brown bar) for the keyboard...the issue is that I broke that brown piece off and can't seem to fit it back on. My question to you is if there is any way I can fix this or get around it. I did try to hold the ribbon in place while i used some scotch tape to secure it which seemed to hold it in , and yet when I booted up the computer, the keyboard was of course not working at all. This was my first time disassembling any laptop and everything worked out great except for this, and it's quite disappointing. Any insight into this issue (especially pictures, but that's asking for a lot :/) would be greatly appreciated.

Also, the whole reason I opened up the laptop in the first place was because the GPU fan was not working. I got to it, cleaned out (a lot) of dust, and reassembled it, hoping this was the source of the problems, but it was not and the fan is still not working. I'm not quite sure but from what I've seen posted around here the only replacement parts are available via Ebay...and I looked at the price of one of these fans and it was over $25 which is pretty ridiculous for a small fan.

    Regards

I had the same issue with the media panel connector. First time I took my laptop apart I wasn't careful enough and tore the connector completely from the mother board. I spent several hours trying to glue the ribbon cable with scotch tape directly to the mother board.
In the end I managed to get it right "mostly". The media panel won't work but at least I can power on/off the laptop.
My advice is not to give up on it, just try to glue it right and make sure all those little pins touch the right place on the mother board.
If its just the clip that holds the ribbon in place that you broke than maybe you can insert some paper on top of the ribbon so it would force it in place - just a thought.
    Good luck
