So I bought my extremely secksy new notebook yesterday, and today I noticed something weird.
In the upper right hand corner, it says "Show" in white text and there seems to be a dead pixel or something next to it. It is really quite annoying, and I have no idea why it's there or what it's for. It isn't clickable, and I haven't been able to remove it. Does anyone know what the heck it is or why its there? I've checked task manager and there doesnt seem to be anything odd running.
Also, when I run games it disapears. As does the "dead pixel"
Kinda weirded out. After plunking down the most money I've ever held in my life, Im a little disapointed theres a messed up pixel and a weird "show" text that does nothing.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!![]()

That sounds like some sort of application, not a dead pixel. Screenshot it please.

Edit: Haha, I just realized I'm going to get hit in the face by Dook -
Is it happened all he time (bios, safe mode, logon screen, etc) or just at desktop?

Both the dead pixel and the "Show" text are not there when I switch users, start up, or basically am not within a logged in user enviroment.
Also, I just went to switch user and came back in and now they are gone.
Do I need to worry about a Virus already!? -
I think it's just some software issue.
Do you have this since first time boot?
If not, then you'll have to remember what software that you installed recently, that causes this. -
I've installed Ares, Command And Conquer Generals, and Steam.
-
That's weird. Maybe reboot and install latest graphics drivers.
-
Maybe part of the webcam software? I hate that thing. Try removing everything from the machine that is non-essential from Gateway and see.
-
well since you haven't invested alot of time yet installing a whole bunch of apps, you might want to do a System Restore and start from scratch.

feed it floppies, the pain will stop
-
I would say reformat the hd and do a new vista installation, since you haven't put many stuff yet.
-
reintall and leave that crappy norton away

Norton = Success (when it comes to hindering your gaming performance)
The 7811 FX can run Crysis... but can it run Norton?
7811 Oh Noez!
