The GPU on my old MB dies. So I found one on ebay and bought it..followed disassembly guide and turned it on...light ups but no display. checked memory. seems like the board I bought had a little crack in the memory clip and it wasnt letting the memory sit right.

think i fixed that. startup. get gateway logo and screen asking if i want to start windows normally. after i select, the screen flashes white then black quick then nothing happens, HD doesnt read, but power light and media bar stay lit.

i have to shut it down.

what did I do wrong? too much thermal paste on the cpu or chipset? too little? memory clip causing problem?

    please help! thank you!

I wonder if your copy of Windows is freaking out thinking it's being used in another machine (heaven forbid) due to the motherboard being different?

If it were me, I would try booting up to one of your bootable restore discs and see if they'll work. Or better yet, a Linux live CD.
