I've run Furmark for a few hours and hit 94C GPU temp. Eventually the video driver crashes stating nvlddmkm shut down unexpectedly and restarted, or I get a BSOD and it restarts.
Now I try to run Furmark and as soon as HWMonitor gets close to 80, the above occurs. Has anyone else experienced this?? It was able to go much longer before, but now it only goes for a few minutes before hitting 80 and quitting.
I've done a lot of google searches and tried wiping and re-installing drivers. Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions?

whoa 94C, 205 Farenheit!!!!!!!!!!! Reminds me of my superclocked 64MB Geforce Go Fx 5200, lol. The 9700M GTS in my x305 only gets 68 max even overclocked at 700/1000/1800, running prime 95 and nvidia geoforms for 1 hour. my cpu's were at around 160 F and my GPU was at 154 F. But, i have had the display driver problem, usually when i overclocked something too high, and that usually was the core. but i never got an issue due to overheating, just over overclocking, lol.

What drivers are you using?
-
I tried the most recent drivers from laptopvideo2go. I just uninstalled those and I'm going to try installing the original drivers that came with the laptop.
-
Installed the original gateway drivers and the same thing happened.
I also tried playing Crysis Warhead. Previously I've played for an hour with no problems. Now I can't play more than 10 minutes before it reports that nvlddmkm is crashing.
Sigh. -

And we're dead in the water.
Try to boot up and I get a fancy gray flashing screen trying to display the startup BIOS screen, except incredibly distorted. Power off, unplug, remove battery, sit for a few minutes, same thing.
Argh. It's dead, Jim. -
Being that its still under manufacturers warranty, when did you buy your 7811? I am just wondering on the batch date.
-
I bought it seven days ago. Going to give a second 7811 a try. It's a P2888 series, came with the newer BIOS.
-
After about an hour or so, it did come back up and boot normally, but obviously at this point, this ones toast and is getting exchanged tomorrow. Oh well. The screen on this one was fantastic, here's to hoping I can get a fantastic screen on my next one, and a laptop that doesn't set itself on fire internally.
-
Well, this just tell you that even this so called improved batch is also flawed.
-
Uhm.. he was likely overclocking the GPU. I say this because the error received is when you lose the video driver. I may be wrong..but Im very familiar with the error. Usually dont get a blue screen, but it resets the vid and ya have to reboot to bring it back in. So, were you OCing?
-
Nope, no OC'ing. In fact, I had added a second HD but I didn't like the temperatures I was seeing for the hard drives so I removed it.
The toughest thing I've thrown at it (besides stress tests) is Crysis Warhead. Beyond that I was playing a lot of 2 - 5 year old games (Star Trek Elite Force, Fear, Simcity 4), so I didn't even bother trying to overclock. No point. -
That's odd..Well, good thing for the 14 day policy eh? It's a great computer, Im sure #2 will take better care of you
-
I really hope so! As many on this forum have said, I LOVE the laptop when it's working. I even found that I didn't mind the speakers. I'm hoping the replacement doesn't have the super hot hard drive problems my first one did. I'm going to HD Tune, Furmark, and Prime95 the heck out it for the next couple of days (I work Fri - Mon, so between 10 hour work days and sleeping, I'll be able to run the gamut within just a few days).
-
You burned out your videocard.
-
It would appear so. Running a benchmark\stability program shouldn't destroy the video card running at stock temperatures, voltages, etc. Now, running Furmark over night at 94C might not be a great idea and may have negative long term effects, but I only ran it for about half an hour before it just restarted (presumably) due to heat.
