The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. ok when you partition the drive can you change the stripe and if i can what program should i use... i looked thorough the forum but didn't really see anything about changing the stripe after you create the volume...

you definitely did not look through the forum... if you did, not only would you have found the answer but you also would have not created a new thread on this... ugh couldnt you at least title the thread less generically?

After you create the volume with a certain stripe, you cannot change the stripe. If you create a partition on that volume, that partition will have the same stripe as the volume. In order to change the stripe, your only option would be to delete the volume and remake it with a different stripe. This would erase the data on the volume entirely. If you're wondering how to make a raid array with two different stripe sizes, partitions will have nothing to do with it, you would have to create two volumes with two different stripe sizes.

I didn't say you were hurting anyone. What I was getting at is that you're cluttering the forums. You don't have to look through 100 pages to see that this topic was created and talked about already multiple times. It's common courtesy to post in the appropriate thread in order to keep these forums organized. You should learn that before you make a new thread. What you don't understand as you said is why people can't just answer the question and move on. The reason is if we didn't point out what you're doing wrong, you would keep making the same mistake. No one wants to have to run back and forth between 4 threads on the same topic just to find the info they're looking for. You're helping to cause the very problem you're complaining about. What's even worse is you didn't even make an effort to title the thread towards your question. It's like me creating a thread called "laptop" and then asking about my 7811. Also, if you looked around AT ALL you would see the feature labeled "search", hmmm, I wonder what that's for. Don't make it harder for other people to find what they're looking for just because you're lazy.
