I'm having a minor dilemma.. I'm about to install XP..and I'm trying to decide between 64bit and 32bit. I had 64bit Pro on my last machine, and it never had any issues with drivers or compatability. I know the 7811FX Driver thread provides support for both..but I'm just not sure which one would allow me to optimize for best gaming performance. Any input is appreciated. And if you have already gone this route.. Lemme know how your experience is/was. Oh, and this is an extra HDD..I'm still keeping my Vista RAID array. In case anyone questioned my intentions.![]()

Doesnt x86 only support 3GB ram max? By that logic, you should definitely go for the 64-bit version....!

well I go with 32 when i install xp just because 64 doesn't bring anything worthwhile yes 1gb more of ram... and a ****-ton of problems and incompatibility issues. The only reason i install it is to play my dear Shogun total war, and i bet you it will choke on 64bits!
Its up to you, do you want incompatibility with older software/games go 64! if not go 32I would do 64 vista / 32 xp that's just me.

Ya XP 64 for the most part stunk and had very little support so i would say stick with 32 as i had it running on my 7811 very nice.

Good deal..thanks guys. Im finishing the slipstream CD now.. Gonna go 32bit XP

Sounds like some performance comparison benchmarks are in the works, Maybe!?1?!

It all depends on the drivers. If they are available for 64bit windows, go for it. Other than that, there is no problem going with 32bit, even if it doesn't support all 4gb (at least you get 3.25-3.5gb...and dual channel).
