    Here are my specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64Bit
    17" LCD
    Core2Duo P8400
    4GB DDR3
    Geforce 9800M GTS 1GB DDR3
    320GB HDD

My Cpu and hdd are ok, but sometimes when playing games like Crysis, Hitman Blood Money, etc, my gpu reaches temperatures of 100 degrees celcius or even higher (90-103), causes crash and artifacts.

Where can i get a modded bios because what I need to do is modify the fan speed that is blowing the gpu.

I've tried everything, and every software but I can't do it, so I need to modify the bios, where can I find one to change the dreaded phoenix bios?

    - By the way, ive already tried rivatuner, speedfan, ntune, nvidia control panel, nhc, and many others. I've also applied thermal paste with only minimal results.

tried cleaning the vents for the heat sinks? there is no other reason you should be getting these temps, unless youre OCing

ok so i double checked and its the 7805, not the 7811.

I just bought this laptop last week, and they applied arctic silver thermal paste on the gpu and the cpu.

I just ran grid 30sec ago, and after 4m gameplay, it hit 105 degrees celcius..

    Idk what to do??

they might not have applied enough of the compound. if you're comfotable enough you should reapply some yourself. also check the vents man, im telling you that unless this laptop is brand spankin new, theres some dust sittin there

I have the 7811 fx and my gpu hits 105c while playing cod4 for about 20 minutes, it is ridiculous and I am hoping since I bought the laptop used that the fans need to "de-dusted." I was also wondering what temperatures are normal and that I should be seeing...

I don't really know what is "normal" for the 7811. A lot of people talk about hitting 105C on COD4 or Crysis. Don't know if it has anything to do with the games. I'll tell you my temps though. For TF2, my GPU goes into the low 60s sometimes. For Fallout 3, if I remember correctly, it went into low to mid 60s. Far Cry 2 and 3dmark06 can go above 70, but only very rarely. Basically, I usually max out at around 65C. Stock thermal compound on the GPU, Zalman nc 2000 cooling pad, and 2 fans blowing at the computer.

Maybe I got lucky with the TIM on my GPU? I don't really know. I'd bet it has more to do with the cooling pad, the undervolt, and the 2 external fans. Ambient temperature seems to have a big effect on the 7811.

yea gamadaya, your temps are about 10c lower than the average without the undervolting and colling pad, plus youre running the t9800 on top of that, so you've done an amazing job of cooling. but these guys getting over 100c is crazy. normally i would be very concerned if my temps got to 80c, if they were at 90 or higher id shutdown my entire pc immediately for fear of frying my card

you guys should be sure that there is plenty of air getting to the computer. raise the bottom of the laptop to allow air to get to the bottom. also uninstall your drivers and reinstall ones from the nvidia website to be sure your drivers arent the problem

and i cant stress enough the importance of cleaning out your heat sink vents because dust is the number one killer of gpus (maybe next to suicide OCing)

And Pancakeman, if this doesn't work then you have no choice but to re apply the thermal compound yourself because those guys probably didn't know what they were doing if they applied artic silver and you get temps like that. on a second, scarier thought, maybe your computer had been having ridiculous heating problems and thats why they added the aftermarket paste, you may have some hardware problems....

thats what ive been thinkin, because the gpu fan rarely turns on, its like random, and the salesman suggested to do it (thermal paste), so im thinking there is something fishy going on with my laptop. I may get a refund, ive only had it for a bit, so il call the refurb place and see what they say, but its a hardware problem, it can't be dust, i opened it up and checked for any dust or obstructions.

its a lovely laptop, but the gpu is going insane, i cant play anything for more than 3-4minutes. :(

    Also (CORRECTION)

My laptop is the p7805, not the 7811, but i guess theyre very similar.

Same thing happened w/ my 7811FX after 1 year of use w/o cleaning, it started hitting 106c :( None of my games ran smoothly after 5mins of play.

I bought a $5 duster from officemax and sprayed in the gpu vent, wow it worked! 106c down to 72c max :)

well mine wasnt dust, hardware defect, fan wouldnt even go on but sometimes it would (pulsating and randomness), I replaced it with the asus 50vt, and it is amazing, doesnt hit high temps, and allows O/C.

for now i trust asus more, even tho it was a rare hardware defect lol

the gpu fan is on. and it's running quickly. i'll bet you money the issue is the inside of your gpu exhaust fan is caked in dust. Similar issue happened here. These things pull in a ton of air and dust builds up over time. My temp peaked at 104C after installing a second 23in monitor. Took the thing apart and that was the problem dust build up. Temps now idle with both monitors in the low 50's heavy gaming pushes it to about 65-70C. With out the monitor it idles around 40C.

take the thing apart and clean the heatsink.
