7811FX Multimedia buttons aren't working after fresh install

I didn't make a back up driver disc or anything of the sort which might make sense as to why they don't work now, but I did a completely fresh install of Vista 64. I obviously don't have the directory in the registry to change files to launch any programs.

I'm actually not sure what I need to do as Googling and going to Gateway's support site hasn't helped much. Also, I've tried searching the forums and there were so many posts that just didn't help.

 

I, too, am experiencing this. I cant seem to find the hot start buttons in the registry.

Second file Vista x64 hotstart button installer, its for the 7801u but it should work on the 7811FX too.

 

How do you use iTunes outside of iTunes? I'm unable to use the media controls to control it like I am WMP outside of the program.

If anyone has help, it'd be amazingly appreciated.

 

last i recalled no one knew how to make itunes work with those buttons. they work fine with winamp for me however.

 

Before I reformatted there was a script or something that allowed me to use it that I found on this forum, but that was about 4 months ago so I've not a clue what to look for. I mean I found it here and I know it's possible, but I just can't seem to locate it anymore.

 

I can't get mine working either, since a fresh reformat / reinstall of 64 bit Vista. Anyone? The link above has changed.

 

Honestly, I thought there was just something I had to change in REGEDIT under the Hotstart keys or whatever to allow the actual function/use of the keys outside of iTunes.

Can anyone help at all?

You download that and put that in your iTunes plugin folder! Figured it out!

Go me.

 

But what if we don't use i-tunes?
