Can someone give me cliffs on what I should know and check before I buy.
If I remember correctly I should only get one with serial number: 2888?

i saw one too. they don't list the clearance price on the web site (till now). make sure they don't slap on the geek squad optimization for $60. thats most likely a refurb unit. but cleverly disguised.
p2888 is right. get home and test it thoroughly. futuremark and some graphically intense game like COD4 or crysis. look for dead pixels, ghosting etc. overheating and/or buzzing power brick. thats about it i guess.

that's not a refurb but any pc that is returned as defective is sent back to gateway and we never see it again. it is just something that has been pre-setup as it is worth it to customers that aren't very computer literate or have the time to do it.

I'm running a 2887 with the ridged power adapter, and I haven't had any problems what so ever aside from a display driver glitch (that was easily fixed) and Vista's IEEE 1394 problems.
