    Hi.
    1. I bought 7811FX and entered bios. I switched the hard disk mode to ahci and set quick boot and after restart i can`t enter bios. I press f2 after reboot "entering bios" epears but nothing heapnes. Vista works Ok. my bios is 9C.08.00
F10 works fine - i can choose from where to boot.

    2. My microphone doesnt work. I have installed conexant vista 64 drivers and nvidia hdmi drivers but in the control panel it is written that my microphone is not plugged in. Sometimes when i iinstall conexant drivers again it works after restart but after second restart it doesnt anymore.

OK, can I guess that you did a clean install of the OS? Um, my mic and headphones had issues when I did just that... do you have problems with the headphones, too? If so, this might work for you, too.... or even if it is just the mic, it's worth a try.

Go into your control panel, click classic view, and double click sound... you'll have playback, recording, and sounds tabs... for me, the playback has speakers (high definition audio device), headphones (same thing), digital output device (HDMI), and NVidia HDMI Output (not plugged in)... the headphones have to be set as default. If right clicking and "test" works, it's just a matter of tinkering, usually...

For the recording tab, I have 2 microphones that both say high definition audio device... it might actually be opposite for you, but the first one for me is the plugged in mic on the side (by the card slot and headphone jack), and the second is the horrid little dot of a mic beside the webcam (which is awful for me, btw)... anyway, sometimes mine decides that the first=whatever is active, but basically plug a mic in, see if the display reacts (green bars fly up), then if so, that's your default... keep it like that forever so that it defaults to a plugged in device and falls back to built in (which would be speakers and the webcam's awful excuse for a mic)... incidentally, the third thing should be an internal aux jack that isn't plugged in, either...

Oh yeah, on the mics, there are also "properties" for them... the side port is called a "rear panel 3.5mm jack" on properties, and make sure it's enabled... I keep the levels at 100 with a full mic boost, too. Make sure in the advanced stuff, your "rear jack" (plugged in) one has both exclusive mode boxes checked, too... to allow the apps to use the device and to give this device priority over the built in when it is present.

The properties of the built in mic show it as a riser analog jack... I have the allow apps to take exclusive control box checked... but for whatever reason, the give exclusive mode apps priority isn't on this---maybe what Gateway told me to do, but this seems to work for me.

Easy way to test it is just talk to your computer through the very efficient webcam software--make sure to put that back on there--it's good. I use manycam, too... but the built in is good and even lets you mirror the image so you are scratching your right cheek like you would in a mirror.

I just recorded some random stuff to test them all... for me, the built in microphone is not suitable for many things, but eh, better than none at all.

Let me know if this helps... I spent several days wrestling with this after a clean install.

I only have 3 entries for speakers and 1 for mic (clean install). What gave you the additional entries? I have the webcam software installed.

I had the same issue with the bios, I tried all three versions posted being 9C.08.00, 9C.09.00, and 9C.10.00 and could only enter the bios by pressing F10 and then hit enter setup... I ended up going back to 9C.05.00 and its fine and I can again enter bios, since I don't need raid its not a big deal to me but I would love to know why nobody else is having this issue... BTW i have a 2887 version

With 9C.08.00 and later BIOS you have to hit F2 early and often, before you see any BIOS prompts or anything else on the screen to get into BIOS. Otherwise, use F10 as mentioned above.
