    Hi everyone -

I recently got an eSATA cable for my external HDD (Acomdata 500gb) and my transfer rates are around 20mb/s while USB is usually 26mb/s or so. I've updated the bios for my laptop and apparently Acomdata's website is down for me to look for drivers. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Kyle

Now it transfers around 60mb/s - nowhere near Cyclist14's but a lot better!

    Thanks for the help guys.

60 MB/s is about what should be expected for that drive.

Not sure what drive Cyclist has got for average write rates of 90-110 MB/s - only an SSD, Raptor or RAID box would be able to hit those figures over eSATA.

That's about what I consistently get from mine as well (WD 320GB 7200RPM).

I'd hate to make a new thread for another question....

Has anyone tried modding their 7811fx case - particularly putting a very thin fan on the bottom? Just curious how this could plug into the mobo or the P/S.

to my knowledge no one here has done that, but it's possible (I wouldnt do it, I'd just buy a notebook cooler and keep my warranty). The fan would have to be soldered onto the mb (usually a usb header), or you can make a usb power cable with very little work and plug it in externally (kinda defeats the purpose).
