I have read and reread all the pros and cons of the 8510GZ.

The unit at a local BB has 1 dead pixel I can see, is a 6-month-old model and I just think this is too high. They will not budge on the price.

Vs. the new MX7525, what I like is the 17" screen, long battery life, X700 (albeit 64M), 5400 rpm hd, and that everything is upgradeable. I just don't think this is a fair price.

    Any thoughts?

Why not buy the new one for a higher price? the demo unit's 1 dead pixel, 6 months used battery and countless unconsiderate shoppers pounding on the demo unit is not my idea of a good buy. I rather take an open box unit then a demo any day. Course for me I bought a brand new unit. What is the current price of a new 8510gz at BB?

No new 8510gz in my area. The "model" is 6 months old, but this particular unit has only been put on their shelf last week. Everything (besides the one dark pixel) looks ok. It has definitely been pre-owned due to the list of web pages in the cache. I know the 8525 with basically the same specs will hit soon, just looking for a good deal if I can find it.

Matt, I'm not sure where your looking but the 7525 appears to have a X600 card with a 15.4 screen.

Still there, although "hidden" under the counter and now priced at $1,099.
