Hi guys,
Just wanted to let you guys know a costumer upgraded his 8550 from a x700 to a x1900. Seems to work fine except for the thermal system that got a bit confused. Currently looking into what the consequences are and how to solve them. Probably going to use a fan mod I used on other notebooks already.
I'll update the thread if I have more info or a tutorial.

Also: I was told this notebook shares most of it's internals with the 8000 series and the M600 series. If anyone has more info on this I'd be happy to hear it..

I have an 8510GZ notebook with a 64MB x700 stock. I had purchased a go6800 256MB card to upgrade but the card was unfortunately defective.
I'm definitely interested in finding out if you address the heat issues. If so, I'm interested in purchasing either a 7600 or a x1900 option. -
Hi,
The user has not reported any heat issues. It would seem a "plug and play" solution.
I am not confident the 7600 would even work. Gateway/Quanta notebooks have seen very mixed results regarding compatibility and I was actually quite surprised this worked.
Unfortunately, the x1900 is out of stock atm. They are due somewhere in december. -

Well, doesn't seem to be required for this one but check out http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/3438.html
