For all those frustrated with laptopvideo2go's drivers not working you can blame a comma..... See below, the modded inf file contatains a comma where an underscore should be, rendering the install useless. ie "no changes have taken place during install".

If you have any question just ask. ;)

If anyone has trouble just open up the INF file and search for 609. You should notice a comma before it. Just replace with an underscore and save. Problem fixed.

So with the latest Vista x86 175.70 I assume this line:

    Code:
    %NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1% = mobile,nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609
    Changes to this:

    Code:
    %NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1% = mobile_nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609

Good find. I always knew there was something screwy with device ID for the 8800GTS, just never looked that deep into it. This will solve a lot of problems for Gateway owners and new Apple iMac owners! :)

well, just got through putting that driver through the ringer and it's stable and keeps a low temp....... but....yes there is a but. it drops your gpu after 15 seconds to something like 383/301 or in some cases..200/100 well gee....your temps cant do nothing but drop and stay low. and i don't like how it slows my gpu down and from what i could see, it wasn't the temps dropping the speed because the temps never went past 79c , but it drop speed at like 54c....not sure what that is all about. so i have went back to my 175.63 version. i will retest them again later, but with a different inf file to see if any changes occur. will keep all posted on this latest development

updated and work great. Except on World in Conflict which will not run in dx10 without serious video issues. Im not 100% its this driver in particular but i just downloaded the demo and tried it in dx10 with disastrous results.

put -dx9 at the end like this...

    example
    "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -dx9

Who else is having this problem? I don't see anyone else saying anything. Like I said though I'm running xp not vista. I use rivatuner and gpuz to monitor settings. Temps while gaming stay the same as well. Heats up to maybe 65c after a hour of gaming and only comes back down when I stop. What program are you using and when is the downclock happening?

Edit: I did read this on laptopvideo2go.com under the xp 32bit section, but its for someone who uses a 8800m gtx

"Whoops, not quite. I normally run with powermiser off, turned it on to check and it immediately downclocks me regardless of batter/ac status.

~shrugs~ I don't game on battery power really anyways, other than to show off the notebook, so I don't much care if powermiser doesn't work."

i was using 3dmark06 and gpuz running in the background. then the fps would drop a bit, then as the screen changes to the next test i could see the gpu with lowered clocks.

hummm, i think i found out the problem...going to have to chalk that one up to over clocking and possibly the wrong inf file used. along with the video driver reseting it self..... interesting.

i just took 175.75 and edited in my card into the original inf file and loaded them and they seem to work fine now.

no issues while on battery power and no sleep issues either.

So it sounds like it is a issue with powermizer then.

ok. seems that this is an inf issue between versions for vista.
after investigating a bit further.... i noticed that using the modded inf file gives you the powermizer issue, while editing the nvac.inf file does not.... hope this helps anyone having the same problem i had.

    http://www.say-it-loud.com/nvac.inf
this has been edited to include the 8800m gts card. the original doesn't have it.
