Ok so I OC'd using the clocks that I stole from Wysoki's sig(thanks man) and run 3dmark06. I gained 500 points, pretty nice gain IMO. Looks all well and good then I got boot up COD4. After maybe 3-5 minutes my screen went black. Anyone have any suggestions. I did run 3dmark06 with the laptop propped and when I played it was sitting flat but still that seems awful fast for an overheat so I don't know what the hell happened. Any help is appreciated.

Its really not that important to me, still plays all games fine I just got bored and figured what the hell might as well see how far I can push it.

Try and lower the clocks a bit. If they are too high, the GPU resets it's self into a limp mode until restart. Remember there are tolerances on chips and one might not clock as high as the other. Not sayin this is the definite problem, but it sounds like it. :)

Ya i had the same problem on my 6860. i could bump the core and memory for the most part pretty high and not have the screen crap out, but if i touched the shader BAM!! the screen went black after only a few minutes of gaming.

Yeah, its probably the nvidia display drivers that kicked out.

Same thing happens to me if I try something higher. Only thing is it will happen in oblivion after 10 mins but I can play Crysis for 2 hours and the screen won't shut off.

edit: haven't updated my sig in a while but I've actually toned down the clocks for safe measure and am running them 24/7--- 625/925/1550 also does your adapter hiss and get hot after the screen shuts off?

Usually when the driver kicks out the screen wont shut off. The game will turn off and a little box in the bottom right hand side of the monitor will tell you the nvidia *something* driver has stopped responding and recovered.
