hello everyone, my first post on this forum!

Anyway, I have been reading these forums since September 08 when I purchased my 7811FX. I've noticed a visible difference between users when it comes to OC speeds and temperatures.

I've been getting worried lately as my 9800M GTS has been hitting high 90's and even 100'C temp's, although I did recently upgrade my drivers and it has stayed within low 90's with a peak of 98'C. And this is all without OC'ing the GPU and playing games like Empire Total War and GTAIV on 1900x1080 in all Ultra. Is this normal? I have a laptop cooler that raises it with a large fan underneath it, but honestly I think that fan does jack squat considering the GPU vent is on the left side of the laptop and the fan is dead center.

Can any FX users give me some tips on how they keep their GPU's cooler than this while under gaming pressure from graphic intensive games. And also those who OC this GPU, can you give up your secrets and give clock speed examples and average temperature while gaming. Thanks in advance.

I've already undervolted my CPU to .9375v, and its keeping a constant 55-65C temperatures under heavy gaming loads, its not my CPU that's overheating. My GPU is hitting high 90's which is what worries me. I don't know if this is average or not.

My 7811 has the new P9700 CPU @ 2.8Ghz in it, so in a sense is "overclocked" from the stock CPU and the highest temp my GPU has hit so far (under Crysis Warhead) is 77 degrees so NO I don't think high 90s or even 100 is normal. All voltages and timings are stock, BTW.

Clean out your rig. Seems like you have something interfering with the air flow. Your GPU should not be hitting 100 degrees

Raise the back or prop it up, the intakes are underneath so if it is not raised it wont cool properly.

I have it raised up with a laptop cooler. How would I go about cleaning it? Also what about adding that thermal paste? What temperatures SHOULD I be getting?

You clean it with Compressed air and Q-tips. You can ever follow the disassembly guide (sticky at the top of the forum) to really do a deep cleaning

As to thermal paste. Yeah using a better thermal paste will help alot, but you have to fix the underlying problem first.
