Disclaimer: Do not do this, I'm just a geek who doesn't know any better. If you do so though you do at your own risk..........
I updated to 9c.12.00 bios from the P7811 thread and while all is working there seems to be no real major improvement. Since this was released abouth the same time as nVidia released their drivers to prevent dead GPU's it probably addresses GPU cooling issues if nothing else.
initial impressions or Noticed changes:
1.) It does seem the fans for both the CPU and GPU kick in more easily/readily.
2.) Windows Game Experience score is all the same.
3.) Crysis Demo seems to run slightly smoother at 1280x768.
4.) the one run of 3DMark 06 dropped 100 points but watching it looked like 1 fps or so faster, weird.............
5.) Sound was recognized without reloading the device. On 1st boot no sound at first until initialized.
6.) Ram usage seems down a bit, I run without a page file but it appears better memory usage, I need to use it more though to see if this stays in effect.

Do you get any new options in the bios? Like for voltage increase/decrease for the GPU?
-
-
Yeah wait your saying we don't have to devcon restart the audio every boot anymore with that BIOS? If so I'll be making that switch shortly...
-
I am using Vista 64, some had reported sound issues with the 7811 so I wanted to re-iterate there are none I can find with the 7805.........

Gateway really needs a bios section to their downloads area.
-
They have one..they just don't offer any of the 7k FX series BIOSes. Hence my BIOS thread on here.
-
Theres the link if anyome cares.
My question is, since the 9c.12.00 has options for extreme chip OC, would the option still be available on the 7805U
EDIT:::::
Wait, is OC available on the 12? -
No OC'ing the 7k series CPU. Period.
-
-
-
-
AW, yes.. I have confirmed it. And, with the 7k Series, there is NO overclocking. So, if you drop in a x9000, it will not OC up to 3.0 GHz like it would in the 6k FX Series.. The OC option is entirely removed from the 7k Series BIOSes.
-
-
-
They also advertised RAID with the initial 7811 releases..but the BIOS didn't support it. That's a generic FX manual..
-
-
They can't change the BIOS to support OC'ing for extreme CPUs. There's 70+ pages in my BIOS thread(in my sig), and several of them explain why. Actually, the first page explains it well. Instability. The system already has a power issue..hence TZS0 - an extreme CPU with overclocking would BSOD it continually.

Hi,
For the mic show all in properties and disable the default working mike, this gets it working. I don't use headphones so can't help there......... -
Figured it out. It was the MS Driver causing the problem. It got updated once I updated the BIOS. I force the Conexant sound drive to be installed using the Have Disk method and now everything is working. I didn't notice it was the MS Driver since I just got the laptop last week and everything is new.
-
So, you are saying that the .12 driver update works fine on the P-7805u?
-
-
Yikes!
I must have slept through .13, .14, .15, and .16!
-
more like we thought 9c.12.00 was it and then e-wrecker comes out with rumors of 9c.17.00.
-
1.) SiSandra with both the P8400 and now also the P9600 has 10% lower mips than the reference CPU.
2.) in ballanced mode, with no/low load on the cpu per task manager, the cpu jumps from 800 Mhz.
3.) RMClock shows a non OS, system, load on both cores. The OS load is the same as reported by task manager.
Now this is with Gateways install of Vista 64. I am not sure of other systems as I've only mine to test and others haven't reported the issue. It is probaly the same though as WE reports us all as 5.2 on the cpu and our 3dmak 06 results seem to be about the same.
Notice below image and the CPU Load, the second from the top graphical history..............
