So i went to bestbuy.com and searched for
"7801u"... and they show me the MC7801u
then i searched for "FX"... and there is a little banner "take your game to new place with a gateway fx laptop (fx laptop pictured)"
now the 7811fx is still available in the outlet. but i was wondering if this could be a sign that best buy will bring in the new 7801u, which was also featured on gateways website.

I sure hope not, because i just bought a 6860 off of ebay thinking that best buy discontinued the fx line.

I doubt best buy would refuse to sell laptops based on what production line they're on. they discontinued the 7811 but they can't predict what other laptops will be released on the fx line that they might want to sell... such as the 7801u.

btw, some guy on ebay is trying to sell the 7801u for $2350... lol

No, I mean there was such a deficit created by the cost of production and revenue off of each laptop, they decided they got so lttle from each purchase they didn't want to bother stocking them anymore.

I thought someone posted that the 7801u SKU was in the BB database and that it had a 5400RPM hard drive instead of the 7200RPM HD seen in the 7801u at Newegg? I think there were one or two other minor differences as well. Maybe it was all a dream. Just a dream... If I wake up, I'll be stuck with a Thinkpad R40 for all eternity!

Yup it does. I searched it myself and to me it sounds like the bargain is gone. Its still like 1800 bucks and i can get a sager for that price with a 9800m gts.

But since im a new gateway FX fan i would buy the gateway FX anyways. ;)

Anyone know if this IS going to BestBuy?

Just found it on the Gateway listed as available from Newegg.

BestBuy has the MC7801U as $800 and it looks stripped.

Important note. The MC7801U is NOT one of the FX series, it's from the MC series. MC series = 16:9 screens and largely meant for home entertainment, not performance gaming like the FX series.

    Review for MC series.

open nvidia control panel, go to device settings:
    core - 698mhz
    memory - 998mhz
    shader - 1798mhz

click apply, close out. when it asks you if you want to load the settings at startup, say yes

Note: I know that you can get stability with higher clocks, and each card is different. The reason I use these is because E-wrecked recommended them, and I know him to be extremely competent and reliable when it comes to this sort of thing. Anyway, these clocks have worked extremely well for me, increasing performance with little to no increase in GPU heat.
