I have a gateway P6831 FX
and occasionally the TZS0 AcP will jump from 50 Celsius up to 90 Celsius
Why is it doing this? It only started like a week ago?
Is it the battery going to ? I've had this laptop for about almost 2 years
On the temp it should 98 for the max.. this is new and occasionally for the min it will go up to the same temp that you see in the max right now...
Any help?..

Well the easiest thing to suggest would be:
When was the last time you cleaned the laptops interior? -
Have you messed around with the internals? Mainly, taken the thermal pad of the north-bridge?
-
Try messing around with the internals, new thermal pads+past and clean dust from the internal fans and vents.
EDIT:If you do a search there are some walk throughs on how to make copper thermal pads or replace existing ones with copper ones. -
I would suggest the ICD7 for the north-bridge over a copper shim, works just as well and is a lot easier.
Maybe redo thermal paste, and as the others have said check for dust, its not friendly. -
And, in case you didn't know already, it's not actually 98C. That's a glitch. What helps the most in this case is undervolting. Take a look at the undervolting guide in the stickies. It will lower temps by a lot, and even if goes to 98C, the undervolt will prevent the system from downclocking itself (which I assume it's doing). I don't know what CPU you have, but depending on what program you use to undervolt (most use RMClock), it may lower your max speed. There's a way around that, which I can't find right now, but I'll post a link when I do.
Err... actually, I can't find the undervolting guide in the stickies. Maybe it was never up there, but I'm sure it was.
Oh yeah, it might have been a link in a sticky. Or something... I can't remember how I first got to it, but here it is:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824
And here is how to keep the .5x multiplier (if you have one, I don't know if you do): http://forum.rightmark.org/topic.cgi?id=6:1770
Whoa. Did it link to the undervolting guide by itself when I typed undervolting guide? I didn't make that top link. -
-
But if it gets to high its down-clocking your system, which sucks, so we dont want that.
Under-volting will help a lot, give it a try, nothing is really wrong though, so dont be too concerned.
I would still replace the thermal pad with ICD7 though, and clean the system slash redo the thermal paste on the CPU. -
I don't think 7805 has it. 7811 sure does. Or maybe the heatsink on the 7805 is good enough so that it doesn't occur, but it's still there. I would have expected them to fix the underlying problem at some point though.

Ok, thanks for all the help but, then whats causing my laptop to suddenly shut off when it is charged? the battery giving out?
-
Is it undervolted? And is it on AC power, or running off the charged battery?
-
Not Undervolted, Not sure if its running on ac, maybe dc since right now I charging it while im on right now, but, It seems to happen right when I get to the desktop screen when my laptop turns on when its not at 100% charged

Srry double post, about the ACPI it turns out it was HW monitor glitching, because when I closed out when the temp got high, I reopened and it went back to the normal temp.
-
HW moniter is not glitching. The glitch is with an internal sensor. If it's plugged into the wall, it's running on ac power (or dc, maybe it converts from dc to ac, I don't know, it doesn't matter). Does it go away after a little? If it does, I guess your OK.
