EDIT: Just figured out what is wrong. Taking this thing back tomorrow for exchange or refund.

Firstly, I looked up "LCD image retention" or "image persistence" and this is NOT the case. It's something else.

The laptop has areas on the left side that will leave an imprint of any lighter image against a dark background. For example, if I use a solid black desktop wallpaper and then move around a white webpage window around the problem area, I can see faint light "imprints" of the window. This imprint will remain until I move other objects (i.e. my cursor) over the area, in which case the new object will leave a new set of its own imprints. These imprints become more apparent if I turn up the brightness. They will remain for as long as a minute, maybe longer.

Also, the area SPREADS larger as I leave my laptop powered on longer. When I leave my laptop off for a while and power it back on, the area starts off small again but will then grow as I use my laptop.

Anyone know what is going on here? Or have this problem?

Haven't heard of that one. Definitely a return.
