Stay away from HP. My high school bought 30 of them... They sucked. I also work at a computer shop in St. Paul, MN... HP's have malfunctions and stuff! I have a gateway for school (college) and it sucks as well. I hate this laptop. If you are going to buy one, look into eMachines (yes, I know they are gateway now, but hopefully the eMachines department is still good), Sony Vaio, or Dell.

I recently purchased a HP zt3000 and it is working fine. No problems to date. It is a good quality machine for the money. Before making my decision to go with HP, I looked at some Gateway's too. This was very early on in my quest. My company uses Gateway's and we could get a discount with them. The only reasons I did not go with them is that one, a colleague of mine say they ran slow (for programming) and two, the price (even with the discount) was high for the configuration. I got more bang for my buck getting a HP.
