Maybe this will help someone. I have a high end headphone setup with my fx7811. I had a problem with a lot of buzzing rf interference but was quiet on battery. I bought a aftermarket ac adapter and was as quiet as on battery. The difference was the aftermarket ac adapter has no ground prong. I swapped cables with the old adapter and the aftermarket ac adapter had the same buzzing rf. So I removed the ground prong from the old adapter and it is quiet. I am now concerned that there may be more risk if there is a power serge?

you are experiencing what is called a ground loop. there are a couple of ways to get rid of that. the easiest is to use a digital audio device like a usb headset. there are other ways but google can explain it better then i can.

The problem is fixed. I removed the ground prong and now it is quiet. My headphone setup cost about the same as the laptop "soundcard, amp and headphones."
