    Hey guys,
I just bought a p6860 made the restore disk, then went and did a clean reinstall to get rid of the bloatware. Reinstall seemed to go fine, untill I was updating drivers, and I got an error. Upon closer inspection, they shipped it with a gateway vista 32 bit restore cd.
I'm trying to get back to vista 64 now, and not sure how to go about doing it except using the hidden partition. So how do I go about accessing it?

Sorry for the Noob question, first gateway I've ever owned.

    Thanks

update. called up the store, and they said I need to bring it back and they will just exchange it for another one. Problem is, they don't have anymore in stock, so I would just have to return it. I tried to get a price match of the p7811 but no luck.

    dont return it over drivers
we will fix you up, post again if you need them drivers

btw vista x86 (32bit) is just as good but you wont be utilizing all your ram.

sorry i think i misread your post, you have vista x86 installed but only x64 drivers ? so basically you want go back to x64 but dont have the x64 os dvd.

1.just borrow someone dvd with home premium x64 install and use your serial for it, update with x64 drivers you made.

do you still have the D partition ? if so

    2. from vista orb menu type gateway recovery center, you should be good from there
3 press f8 while booting should be a restore option (might be wrong on that, away from notebook at the moment)

Funny that I didn't see this before. I had something similar and now I'm running windows x86 on this laptop. I contacted Gateway customer support through their website chat and long story short they are sending me a x64 recovery disk.

I would suggest having a chat with tech support and seeing if they can address your concerns.
