What would you suggest as a possible CPU upgrade on my p7805u on a fairly low budget (under 500 dollars possibly). Was looking at a Intel® Core2 Duo Mobile CPU T9800 2.93Ghz 6Mb for around 300 bucks. Would that be a good deal? Let me know txs.

You could get anything for 500. That's an alright deal on the T9800. I got mine at 350 a little while back.

Ok, that wasn't my fault. I didn't even hit the button multiple times.

i got my x9100 for 320 when i bought it a few months ago. i currently have it at load with 1.150v (trying to find a stable undervolt 1.10v failed my tests) when its idle though i have it at 1.0v (6x multi) so temps dont go very high. max out at 70c (highest ive ever seen)

got mine for 310 from shirleyfu on ebay. also did my researching here before it got it. you may want to look at extremeprocessor on ebay for the 9800. Ive found hes a seller some of the alienware guys use often
ryo i managed to get the 1.10V @ the 11x (11.5 still isnt possible right?) but I have some garbage thermal compound on there. gets up to 90c when doing HD video conversion, but i just UC it to 2.5ghz when doing that anyway. -

i got it down to 1.137v on the 11.5x but im not using rmclock. the program im using to undervolt is cpu genie. this one supports the half multipliers and is very easy to use (much easier then rmclock) 90c on undervolted? my god you need to replace that thermal compound asap. i wouldnt even get that high of a temp with it at 1.237v. i havent tried conversion yet but i will soon lol i wonder how high my temps will be then.
i also got my cpu from shirleyfu on ebay. unfortunately it seems only one seller has the x9100 right now so the price is higher then when i bought it. -
my x9100 (C0 stepping) operates @ 1.075V @ 11.5; 1.037v @ 11x; 1.000v @ 10.5x and 0.975v @ all other multipliers.
Very stable. No BSODs. Using CPUGenie. -

Also have your Temps finally stabilized out? -
Yeah, CPUgenie does pretty much everything RMClock does with a nice GUI and step-by-step wizard.
I reckon it's the C0 stepping in comparison to everyone's else E0 stepping X9100 which is the reason why there is a 20C difference in idle temps. Most ppl report idling @ 32C; I idle @ around 52-54C. Also had to edit HWmonitor and adjust TJMax value (credit goes to Omexis for telling me this) to accomodate my X9100 - shaved off an extra 5C to the present 52-54C temp reading.
Re-application of ICD7 had some effect but not drastic. -

thanks mate, rep for you -
While on the subject how much of an increase would you say you got from upgrading to the x9100 from the p8400 on your games (cpu hungry games like gta 4 and crysis) and did you experience higher temperatures? I think I might stick with my p8400 to keep my temperatures safe. Also would the higher voltage used by the x9100 be a problem for the stock brick?
-
You are going to experience higher temps for sure. That's the tradeoff of a faster cpu. THe x9100 has a 45w TDP, as compared to the p8400's 25w, so there will be a significant temperature increase. The question is, will it matter? All the people with x9100s say it's easily managed, and I believe them. My t9800 (35w TDP) idles 10C higher than the p8400, but they're about equal when gaming, and still well within safe limits. If you are really worried about heat, you could get a p9700, a t9800, or since you said you have up to $500, a t9900 would also be in your price range. The p9700 has a 28w TDP.
As for performance, I think it would help gta4 (I'm guessing, I don't have the game). Crysis isn't CPU intensive, but a fast CPU does help at low resolutions (so I've heard). For me, it significantly increased framerate in TF2, nearly doubled it in Morrowind, and did diddly-squat in Far Cry 2. So it depends on what kind of games you play. I just happen to play a lot of CPU intensive games, so it was a good investment for me. And they're starting to come out with games that require fast dual cores now. Operation Flashpoint 2 requires at least a 2.4GHz core2 duo, so a p-7805 wouldn't even be able to play it stock. That's a scary thought. -

my x9100 along with good thermal paste and a little undervolting the temps are great not very high idle (around 32c to 45c depending on ambient temp) but max in game it goes to 55c-68c maximum(again depending on ambient temp and load). which is about the same it ran at with the p8400 anyway. even without the undervolt the temps never went above 73c which is still well within spec.

Another question, can you OC the x9100 extreme edition on the p7805u?

No
I recommend you read a bit more and do more research, the questions you are asking have been answered many many times.
