I just recently bought an AMS Venus USB 2.0 and eSATA enclosure for an internal blu-ray drive. I got it to work through USB 2.0, but the eSATA port does not seem to be working properly. The Intel Matrix manager keeps refreshing and the drive does not show up on My Computer. Any thoughts?
Edit: Didn't mean to spell eSATA wrong on the title. Also, I think it is important to note that I upgraded to Ultimate 64 and haven't installed everything from the recovery disc I had made before upgrading.

I dont think that there is an eSATA driver available. It takes about 5 minutes to recognize and it doesn't even recognize it completely it just says "Storage Device detected." Any other thoughts?

I had a problem with an eSata HD and my 6860, the cable wouldn't stick properly and so the laptop would detect it on and off, on and off. I had to peel back the plastic of the esata cable with a knife, after that it stuck fine and worked great. Could this be your problem?

does it have a power cord to it? my hdd would be detected but wouldn't run unless i plugged in the drive

Its says something about a port multiplier too, something like port 0. Matrix manager says that Port 0 is my hard drive, do I need to change the port? And how would I do that?
Edit: When I pull out the eSATA cable, Matrix Manager stops refreshing. -
Just try reinstalling the Matrix drivers:

Tried to reinstall, no luck. Actually my computer doesn't recognize it at all now. Any other ideas?

have you tried plugging in a power adapter?
-
So even if you firmly hold the esata plug into the port, it never shows up in My Computer?
-
never does, and yes i have had the power adapter plugged in from the start
im thinking that it has something to do with this 'port 0' trying to be used by the eSATA and the hdd -
I've had this problem too, so I found this thread and a previous post solved my problem. It seems that gateway embedded the esata port farther into the chasis than the esata spec, so the plugs of most esata cables do not properly insert into the port. I cut some plastic off one end of the connector, the sheathing so that it could insert farther into the 7811's port and kazaa! it worked. This has got to be the problem with most people who have this problem and have installed all drivers correctly. Cheers.

Same problem here with my seagate freeagent XTreme I cut a bit of plastic off at the end of the plug and it works
