Anyone playing Age Of Conan on their 6860FX yet?
I am still at work so have not had a chance to install the retail game yet.
I did take part in beta a few weeks ago and for the most part it ran ok on my 6860FX...with low-med settings... low 20fps. I would hope in retail to get 30FPS or better.
I am really interested in the game and am still debating upgrading the stock CPU in my 6860 to T8300 or better.
I think AoC needs more CPU than the stock T5550 to run decently.

I'm installing the patches right now (at work and mobile broadband is slow...), I'll run fraps and play around with the settings here in the next couple of hours but I saw under the gaming forum where someone (did have a t9300) said they had it set at high 1440x900 and were getting 35-45fps with a p-6831fx.
-
Finally got home and got AoC installed.
Actually runs pretty good...at HIGH..with shadows OFF and view distance turned down to 2000 instead of 2800 I am getting 25-30fps. Some hickups when first entering a crowded area...but not too bad.
Think i probably will get a T8300 or 9300....would like to get up into the 34-45fps.
Also, I am extremely impressed with Age Of Conan....they really have done a good job with it...hopefully enough people will give it a shot...and keep it going. We really need something besides that cess pool know as WoW. -

Glad to hear its running well for you. When I first installed the game I was having to run it at low and was still only getting 20fps. But I changed my gpu driver to 175.63 and now I'm running med with a few tweaks and shadows off and I'm running 40-50fps most of the time. And yeah I agree the game is beautiful and the combat is a little more engaging than wow just because you constantly have to switch away from the side they are shielding.
Edit: My only gripe so far is the server I'm on is always full so every time I change my visual settings and close the game I have to wait 5 mins just to test them..... -
Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered a T9300 CPU.
Hopefully install is as easy as i have read...
Really liking AoC and I foresee playing it alot when over at my girlfriends house.
The game is so sweet looking...do not wanna skimp on settings. -
Playing it at your girlfriend's house? Isn't it wiser to play in your own place so she won't be complaining that you don't spend time with her? o.o (maybe your relationship works differently than most, in that case kudos to you)

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum and could use a little help. I also recently purchased the Gateway P-6860 FX (Vista 64 bit) and am interested in installing 175.63 drivers to improve my framerate while playing Age of Conan. This is my first time updating mobile vid card drivers however, so I don't know how to go about removing stock drivers (and modding .inf files for the 8800m gts card if necessary).
It seems like some of you have successfully updated to the 175.63 drivers on the same laptop, so I would really appreciate it if you could please give me a breakdown of how you removed the stock drivers and installed the drivers.
Here is what I have been doing and where I'm getting stuck. I downloaded Vista 64bit version of 175.63 driver for mobile vid cards from tweakforce. Then I uninstalled stock drivers. Now do I need to run a driver cleaner program ie Driver Cleaner Pro before I can install the 175.63 driver? I have never used a driver cleaner program before so which program do you recommend and what options do I need to select when running it? After I have run the driver cleaner program can I go ahead and install the 175.63 driver or do I need to make any adjustments to the .inf file first? Please let me know if you recommend that I get the 175.63 driver from another source ie laptopvideo2go or guru3d. I will be checking up on this thread. Thanks in advance for your help. -

There is a guide here on the site http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=204425
And there is also one from laptopvideo2go
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=11997
I know there are some programs designed to only clean off the old drivers but I also just use CCLeaner to clean everything on my computer. http://www.ccleaner.com/ -
Thanks for the fast response. The first guide you linked is how I found 175.63 mobile vid card drivers from TweaksRUs (XtremeG) in the first place. I couldn't find the release notes explaining how to install it or if I needed to replace the .inf file (I saw an .inf folder in the driver directory but I don't know what to do with it).
The second guide shows great step by step instructions with snapshots for installing drivers from laptopvideo2go but I can't find 175.63 mobile vid card drivers on laptopvideo2go website. Their latest driver for Vista 64bit seems to be 169.12.
Is it mandatory to clean off old drivers even after uninstalling them from the gateway p-6860 fx laptop? -
Hakman, when you go to the laptopvideo2go site, you need to click on "Community Forum" at the top. Then there is a link for the 17x.xx series drivers.
You shouldn't need to use a driver cleaner. Just uninstall the old driver and install the new one. I also have a 6860, and this has worked for me. -
You can try guru3d.com also, it is a good place to get drivers too, just download , you do not need to put files in folders and all that stuff.

Hey thanks for the advice so far. I found the 175.63 drivers on laptop2go and replaced the .inf file with the modded one. I followed the guide's instructions to install the drivers but now my computer is saying that "The driver selected for this device does not support Windows Vista". Anyone else get this problem? And if so, how did you correct it?
Thanks -
Make sure you pick the right OS when you download your file.
-
I have triple checked to make sure I am using the 64 bit Vista version of 175.63 drivers and each time I try to install the computer says that the driver doesn't support Vista. I wish I knew why this is happening :-(

Open the nvac.inf in notepad. Click "Edit" and "Find...". Search for "0609". This is the line you are looking for:
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1% = mobile,nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609
The comma after "mobile" (mobile ,nv) needs to be changed to an underscore like this: mobile _nv. The line should then read like this:
%NVIDIA_G92.DEV_0609.1% = mobile_nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609
Save the file and install the driver. It should work. -
Yes that was it. I corrected the modded .inf file like you said (didn't realize that laptopvideo2go had not updated it yet) and it installed perfectly
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to help me out. I really appreciate it and next time I need to update drivers...I know exactly what I need to do.

Hey Guys,
I'm back again with another nvidia driver related problem on my 6860 FXI replaced the 1.8 ghz core 2 duo cpu with the 2.5 ghz core 2 duo and my laptop became unstable (repeated memory dumps). I uninstalled the 175.63 driver and now its stable. The laptop is currently working fine on the default 167xx drivers however when I try to re-install the 175.63 drivers, I get a "code 39 error". Seems like code 39 deals with the dvd-rom in the system registry or something. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else had this problem with their driver after upgrading their cpu.
Thanks,
Hakman -
Try a different version, like 175.80

175.80 drivers did install however my computer is memory dumping like crazy. It can't even boot up without crashing half the time. Even when I uninstall vid card driver and run off the basic VGA driver I get memory dumps once in a while. The default nvidia drivers (167xx) also get memory dumps once in a while but nothing like updated drivers. Vista system crash report shows locale id 1033 to be the culprit each time I get the memory dump but I have no idea what that means. If anyone has had similar issues after installing their T9300 on 6860 fx and updating vid card drivers pls let me know. I am going to geek squad now to see if they can do anything.
Thanks. -
Strange.... I'm running AoC with everything on high, on my P-6860FX. While I haven't checked to see what fps I'm getting. I haven't noticed anything that would make me concerned enough to bother looking. Seems like it's flying on the laptop.
