    Is there any alternative software for creating recovery discs?

    i just used acronis Ture Image to clone my HDD before i swapped it out for a SSD.

    fresh vista OS disc and use the key on teh bottom of the notebook...

    go to the gateway support page and download all the drivers and keep them on an external drive or a dvd for safe keeping


    thats what i do anyway

    if no key is present at the bottom of the notebook, does that mean the notebook is a refurb?

    no, mine is a refurb and i have a key on mine every notebook sold with a preinstalled OS has a key... unless someone peeled off your sticker
