My little venture of disassembly has left my power button kaputz.

I can still turn on my laptop using the => button, however I have been looking to format my computer and am worried that formatting it will make the => non functional in terms of turning on the laptop.

Does anyone know of an alternative way to start the laptop not using the power buttons?

    Any help would be appreciated.

The => button on my 6860 still worked after formatting, so it should be fine. You can get a new cable on ebay, mine was about $30.

Did you test the => button after installing drivers or before?

Could you please link me to the cable you're referring to?

By driver, do you mean the one that launches Media Center? Because I never installed that after I reinstalled windows.

Here is a link to the cable, but this one has the power button board with it. Once you take the cable out, just search using the number printed on the cable.

I'm just assuming it's the cable , because mine went after taking the laptop apart a few times, and I then found a break in my cable.

EDIT: Here's a link to the one I bought.
